Canada's Immigrant Investor Program

Many developed nations, including the US, UK, and Austalia offer foreign nationals the opportunity to immigrate upon making a financial investment into their economies.

Canada's version of this program is the Federal Investor Program, whereby a foreign national, and his/her immediate family, can receive permanent residency to Canada upon making an CDN$800,000 investment to the Government of Canada. The program is Government is Government guaranteed meaning that your CDN$800,000 will reimbursed in full, without interest, at the end of five years.

Financing Option

By special arrangement, qualified clients of North Star, can finance their CDN$800,000 investment through Desjardins Bank. (Desjardins is Canada's largest financial cooperative with nearly 6 million members and clients). Under the financing option, clients can choose to pay a one- time financing fee of CAD$180,000 to a Government- approved financial institution instead of directly depositing CAD$800,000 with the Government of Canada. The financial institution will then invest CAD$800,00 with the Government on the client's behalf.

Program Process

The immigration process under this program is as follows:

Step 1: Verify program elegibility

Step 2: Complete required forms

Step 3: Submit completed forms and application package to Visa office

Step 4: The application is assessed by a Visa officer

Step 5: A personal interview is required or waived

Step 6: The applicant is asked to make a wire transfer

Step 7: The applicant's passport is required and the Right of Permanent Residence Fee is due.

Step 8: The Permanent Resident Visa is issued.

The whole process can take between 1-2 years.
